Job Description & Qualifications:
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components for small- to mid-sized projects.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, debugging and support for systems software/hardware, including implementation support for multiple infrastructure platforms on mid-sized and smaller projects.
Tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved. Performs root cause analyses for service interruption recoveries. Creates preventative measures and presents to management.
Identifies and tests processes for automation. Performs configuration prior to the quality assurance process.
Develops expert knowledge of industry best practices and uses that knowledge to provide technical support to project team members.
Provides 24/7 on-call support for assigned systems, including investigating and troubleshooting problems.
Discusses issues with users and translates issues to determine appropriate technical solutions.
Nature and Scope
Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

We’re looking for an excited, experienced, passionate and professional Systems Engineer to join our team. You’ll collaborate with our business partners and across multiple groups to get the job done.
The HD Supply Distribution Center Support team is responsible for the setup and support of all IT Infrastructure in 51 existing Distribution Warehouses across the USA with 2 locations in Canada. The infrastructure includes, but is not limited to, Cat6 and Fiber Optic wiring for all vertical and horizontal applications, set up and support of PC’s, printers, wireless infrastructure, network switches/routers, application servers, etc. The position will require some overtime and possible travel to perform installation tasks in new or remodeled facilities.
As well as initial setup, the DC Support team is also responsible for the operational support of all above items. This includes being in an On Call rotation.
The chosen candidate will need to be able to respond instantly to any support needs as our business is extremely time sensitive and operates in a real time fashion. Any down time has a direct financial impact on our business. Candidate must possess personal skills that allow them to be able to quickly change activities on a moment’s notice in a professional manner.
The chosen candidate must possess a strong understanding of physical layer. Knowledge of EIA/TIA standards are a must. Must possess knowledge of fiber optic cable technologies, Cat6 twisted pair, distributed architecture, etc. Also required is a basic understanding of electrical circuits and standards. While we are not responsible for installing electrical circuits, we must have an understanding of electrical circuits, receptacle/plug configurations, current restrictions, and be able to effectively load balance power connections in UPS units installed in our server racks.
