Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for utilizing tools and operational methodologies to craft, evaluate, recommend and execute inventory changes and enhancements. Provide timely, consistent, relevant, and actionable data analyses to support business cases for change using data-driven methods.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Manages, trains, and mentors a team of inventory analysts responsible for the daily execution of inventory purchasing, planning and issue resolution.

Develops executable strategies for proposed inventory management solutions.

Oversees day-to-day inventory management operations, including but not limited to fulfillment, replenishment, inventory on hand monitoring, transfer activity, aged inventory reduction, benchmarking, forecasting and forecast accuracy.

Develops reporting on key performance indicators related to analyst’s inventory categories of responsibility. Monitors output and drives continuous improvement.

Retrieves, refines and analyzes data and translates complex data sets into executive level presentations with fact-based recommendations.

Optimizes safety stock inventory levels and facility stocking strategies, reducing excess inventory while increasing customer order fill rates.

Aligns inventory system controls (EOQ, min/max, safety stock, velocity rankings) with business objectives. Analyzes impact of proposed changes and audits product master data (e.g., UoM, vendor SKU number, case quantity) to ensure accuracy.

Assesses vendor direct opportunities and drop ship operational impact.

Nature and Scope

Solutions require analysis and investigation.

Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.

Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years prior management experience within inventory management preferred.

  • 6+ years experience with large-scale, multi-echelon inventory planning and replenishment.

  • MBA or graduate degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management or Transportation and Logistics preferred.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau, Hyperion, COGNOS, and SAP BI).

  • Experience with Oracle and SAP ERP systems and JDA demand and fulfillment experience preferred.
