Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for utilizing tools and operational methodologies to craft, evaluate, recommend and execute inventory changes and enhancements. Provide timely, consistent, relevant, and actionable data analyses to support business cases for change using data-driven methods.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops executable strategies for proposed inventory management solutions.

  • Oversees “day-to-day” inventory management, including but not limited to fulfillment, replenishment, inventory on hand monitoring, transfer activity, aged inventory reduction, benchmarking, forecasting and forecast accuracy.

  • Develops inventory reporting across key areas (e.g., commodities, direct imports, fabrication, service inventory, merchant profitability). Monitors output and drives continuous improvement.

  • Retrieves, refines and analyzes data and translates complex data sets into executive level presentations with fact-based recommendations.

  • Reviews inventory accuracy; “root cause” physical inventory and cycle count issues and course corrects.

  • Optimizes safety stock inventory levels and facility stocking strategies using modeling software.

  • Aligns inventory system controls (EOQ, min/max, safety stock, velocity rankings) with business objectives. Analyzes impact to proposed changes. Audits product master data (e.g., UoM, vendor SKU number, case quantity) to ensure accuracy.

  • Assesses vendor direct opportunities and “drop ship” operational impact.

  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles and practical experience.

  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age

  • Must pass the Drug Test

  • Must pass the Background Check

  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 7+ years experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years prior management experience within Inventory Management, Replenishment and Allocation preferred

  • 6+ years experience with large-scale multi-echelon inventory planning and replenishment

  • MBA or graduate degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management or Transportation and Logistics preferred.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau, Hyperion, COGNOS, SAP BI).

  • Experience with SAP ERP systems and JDA Demand and Fufillment experience preferred.
