Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Creates, develops, and shepherds execution of strategy and roadmap for assigned product features. Works on minimal viable product using agile methodology. Engages customers, internal and external partners to build viewpoint of the customer. Build business case, formulate KPI's, launch product features to market and measure business outcomes.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops the product strategy for online services through research and feasibility analysis. Leads product vision for assigned projects. Conducts market research, product planning, concepts and user cases (wireframes and user flows).

  • Builds business cases for product ideas. Initiates and oversees the coordination of products throughout their lifecycle, from strategic definition to end-of-life planning. Works with design, software development and QA teams to deliver high-quality products.

  • Gathers, organizes, analyzes and documents customer's business requirements including information on products and services offered by competitors. Understands market needs and user pain points, translates to product solutions. Writes and implements product specifications.

  • Works with marketing, engineering, sales, and strategic partnership teams to flesh out, spec, document, prioritize, and execute the vision. Obtains alignment and buy in from key stakeholders.

  • Manages product launch collateral including user documentation, marketing collateral, and demos. Translates customer/clients needs into new features and new services.

  • Measures and reports product performance and quality.

  • Provides market, industry and competitive expertise and analysis to drive product positioning. Understands customers, influencers and value chain to develop product offerings with clear advantage over competitive offerings.

  • May periodically attend Trade Shows and Product/Technical conferences and makes periodic visits to customers' offices and field locations to gather market intelligence and feedback.

  • Displays the highest level of critical thinking and analysis in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-departmental problems. Makes prompt, sound decisions when faced with complex and often contradictory alternatives that result in successful outcomes.

  • Operates with considerable latitude. Situations may have little or no precedent requiring original or new concepts or approaches without guidance from others. Reaches decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

  • Develops or engages/directs others in developing innovative solutions to important, highly complex strategic and operating problems; cross-departmental considerations are often present.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Five years in eCommerce product management in a large retail organization. Proven experience in managing day-to-day relationships with external business partners.

  • Managing and delivering in an agile environment.

  • Experience using software such as Adobe Analytics, FullStory, Jira, Confluence, and Optimizely to accomplish analysis, a/b testing, and accomplish all things related to delivering best in class software experiences.

  • Experience in building a vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap for specific features and functions on an eCommerce site.

  • Previous track record of working with cross functional teams in the development of product offerings, marketing collateral, product packaging and brand positioning.

  • Ability to prioritize based on qualitative and quantitative data, stakeholder input, and competitive analysis, as well as shift priorities appropriately according to customer needs.

  • Can handle all aspects of product management and willing to jump into writing user stories, epics, handle technical conversations, and feasibility conversations.

  • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to break down complex problems and formulate plans.

  • Proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude and ability to get results.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate to the senior executive level as well as customers to gain feedback that could positively impact the short- and long-term roadmap.
