Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Utilize business requirement and technical design documents to formulate test scenarios and scripts to run against new and enhanced applications. Determines problems that exist between the expected and the actual tests results. Identifies, analyzes and tracks defects, issues, risks, and action items along with identifying the business and system requirements as part of the project team.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Researches and tests issues in production and development environments. Analyzes, researches and documents test requirements for system bug fixes, enhancements and requests. Provides test support.

  • Develops and maintains test specifications and programmer notes. Researches and evaluates program modifications.

  • Researches and evaluates program modifications. Coordinates and oversees all QA project work and test activity within defined system group. Coordinates resources and test environments with other departments.

  • Performs test activity including development of test plans and scripts. Reviews test outcome and validates expected versus actual results. Notifies affected parties during and upon completion of test activity. Documents results.

  • Develops detailed unit, user-acceptance and regression test plans and test cases. Determines detailed timeframes.

  • Assists with planning of QA Department processes and procedures. Participates in QA meetings.

  • Provides peer review function for other QA Analysts.

  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.

  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8 - 20 pounds).

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age

  • Must pass the Drug Test

  • Must pass the Background Check

  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.

  • Primary Projects/Key Responsibilities will Include: Associate will work with the SAP Application department with an emphasis on Performance testing. HD Supply conducts manual/automated/performance testing of our core business functionality to verify that the systems we support can pick, pack, and ship our products to our customers. The associate will be an expert in performance testing. You will be on a team updating existing performance tests, execute performance scenarios, analyze/report on results. Work with Development / Operations on impacts of performance results to our QA & Stage environments. Development of new scenarios during project sprints. Enter or triage defects as they are found during test execution.

  • Other Projects/Responsibilites will Include: Associate will be given stretch assignments reviewing new test tools. Individual must be and expert in 1) methodologies (agile, waterfall, etc.), 2) business analysis / requirements gathering, 3) design and execute performance tests (MicroFocus “HP” Application Management, MicroFocus “HP” Performance Center, MicroFocus “HP” VuGen, SAP, ecommerce, VB Script, C++, XML, SQL, etc.), 4) Soft Skills (written and verbal communication, teambuilding, rapport, etc.)

  • Key Deliverables will Include:

  • Run Performance Test Monthly, Weekly, Daily

  • On-time Reporting

  • Champion for Quality in the SDLC

  • Ensure compliance with SOX procedures and process
