HD Supply Warehouse Safety Associate in Flower Mound, Texas

Company Overview

Warehouse Safety Associate is currently available for direct hire at our Flower Mound, TX Distribution Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment by training associates and facilitating, developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and initiatives.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm (must be flexible to arrive earlier or later as needed)

Location: 550 Lakeside Pkwy, Flower Mound, TX 75028

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Provides safety training to associates and training exception reports to managers.

  • Performs or delegates all safety tasks assigned by the environmental health and safety team on a weekly basis.

  • Facilitates safety committee meetings, ensures safety committee positions are filled, and makes sure all tasks assigned to the safety committee are completed in a timely manner.

  • Serves as the designated environmental associate. Ensures all hazardous materials and waste are stored, inspected, and shipped within company guidelines.

  • Provides training to associates on lift equipment.

  • Assists management, property services, and fleet in the repair, replacement, and removal of equipment.

  • Helps management stay compliant with all business standard operating procedures.

  • Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Assist with Accident Investigations to identify effective corrective actions & root cause.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current OSHA 30 hour General Industry or National Safety Council Advanced Safety Certificate or equivalent

  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Safety or closely related discipline

  • At least 3 years experience handling Safety in a Warehouse/Distribution location

  • Trained MHE (PIT) instructor

  • Demonstrated success implementing an effective Safety Program

  • Experience handling chemical spills and hazardous waste and experience with chemical storage and segregation

Job Summary

Nature and Scope

  • Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

  • Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

  • None.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
