Internship Program – Frequently Asked Questions

HD Supply offers internships across key business areas including Supply Chain, Information Technology, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Sales, and more. Specific opportunities vary year by year. Each internship is designed to provide hands-on experience, professional development, exposure to complex business problems, and the opportunity to identify actionable solutions.

The internship program is open to college students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree/program and who have 1-2 semesters remaining after the internship ends. Specific qualifications may vary by role, although strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, initiative, and a desire to learn are key.

The internship program typically runs during the summer months (mid-May–July). The program lasts for a full 11 weeks with enough time to complete your spring semester and prepare for fall semester.

Yes, all internships at HD Supply are paid. HD Supply values Taking Care of Our People and in earnest to support our culture, we offer paid internships competitive to the market. Compensation details will be provided during the interview process.

This program offers a housing stipend for eligible students relocating from another city or state for the program's duration (minimum 50 miles from the corporate office). Details will be shared during the interview and outlined in the offer process. A request for housing assistance must be selected during the application process before the interview and is subject to review and approval.

You bet. Interns are paired with a manager and a mentor to support their professional development. Interns also participate in learning sessions, workshops with our leaders, visit our distribution centers, ride along with our drivers and sales representatives, and participate in networking events throughout the program.

All internships are based out of the corporate office in Atlanta, GA.

Yes! Our internship program is a key part of our early talent strategy. Many interns who perform well and align with our company culture are considered for full-time opportunities upon graduation.

We are looking for students who are curious, collaborative, self-motivated, and eager to learn. Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are also highly valued.

Each day can vary depending on the team and the projects. Interns are assigned 1-2 meaningful projects that contribute to our business goals. Interns spend time attending team meetings, working on assigned deliverables, collaborating with professionals in their field, participating in training sessions to support their professional development, and engaging with other interns, associates, and our leaders.

Yes, feedback is a core part of the internship experience. Interns receive regular weekly one-on-one meetings with their leader, daily check-ins with their mentor, and a formal mid-point and final performance review to help guide growth and improvement.

Recruiting for our summer internship program begins in August, the year prior to the internship start. Recruitment typically runs through the end of October; however, additional opportunities may be added at any time outside of this time window.

You will receive a confirmation email once your application is submitted. Selected candidates will typically hear back within 2–4 weeks, depending on the role and application volume.

Recruiter phone screens typically occur between August and October, with final interviews taking place in mid-late October with the hiring teams/business leaders.

Yes! You’re welcome to apply for multiple internship roles which align with your interests and qualifications. It is recommended you apply for a maximum of 2 positions in a cohort.

Unfortunately, no. We currently limit participation in our internship program to rising seniors to ensure alignment with our program goals and project scope. You may be eligible for future cohorts thus we encourage you to consider joining our Talent Community to be considered for future opportunities.
